A good leader needs to know how to follow.

There is a time and place for competition and church is not the time nor the place.

Through the eyes of a mother-in-law.

That man there is Simon my son-in-law. Next to him is his brother Andrew and his friends James and John. The other man sitting there is Jesus, the kind man who healed me. I questioned my son-in-laws loyalty at first. Leaving his family’s business and following a strange man who spoke words that sounded crazy. At least I thought that at first, but there is something in him that is unique and different. His words are words of acceptance and his love for us is genuine. I can’t explain it, he accepts everyone regardless of who they are or what they have done.
Then I became sick, sick with fever. I found out later that Simon Peter told Jesus about me and that’s when he came to the house and healed me. He took me by the hand and helped me stand; sending the fever away. I was feeling so good that I immediately began serving them.
Look at them setting around the table laughing and carrying on. Those boys are about to eat me out of house and home; I can’t keep enough food here to feed them. It doesn’t bother me though; I love them and wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now go, get on in that room and sit down at that table. There is plenty of room for you. No one is excluded for all are welcomed. I’ll bring your food out to you in just a bit. Go, take a load off and rest with the man who can change your life. Change your life forever!

A Heart Like Jonah . . . .

With popcorn in one hand and soda in the other I rested my back against the wall to watch the fireworks. You see, God sent me to Nineveh to tell them to shape up or He was going to punish them (the first time he sent me to Nineveh I didn’t listen, things didn’t go well), so I “went out of the city and sat on the east side of the city and waited“.  Jonah 4:5 MSG

Do you know those wicked people repented and the Lord forgave them.  I kind of was hoping the Lord would blast them off the face of this earth, but they repented and the Lord spared their lives.

Now before you put that self-righteous smirk on your face and look at me with those condescending eyes, look down at your knuckles. Look how white they are from grasping those stones you have in your hands, those stones of bitterness, those stones of anger, those stones of arrogance, and those stones of pride. All are a form of hatred.

In Chapter 8, verse 7, of the book of John, Jesus said, “The sinless one among you, go first: Throw the stone.” MSG Go ahead throw that stone if you are perfect or be a man and admit you were wrong and throw those stones down.

I think I will drop my stones; I am really tired of carrying them around anyway (note to self, don’t pick them back up, EVER!). Now it’s your turn, what are you going to do with your stones? Carry them or throw them down! Choose Wisely!

43)  Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.  God takes care of his own.

48)  But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?  God knows all but still wants us to confess our sins.
51)  But Jesus answered and said, “Permit even this.” And He touched his ear and healed him.  Jesus had to submit to his Father.

53)  When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.” Things done in the dark and in secrecy will be found out.
62)  So Peter went out and wept bitterly.  God forgives, restores, and makes us stronger after we fall.
12)  That very day Pilate and Herod became friends with each other, for previously they had been at enmity with each other.  Enemies will unite to accomplish evil.

And he sought to see who Jesus was. . . .

“And he sought to see who Jesus was”. . . this short little man who was hated by most but loved by Jesus. What made Zacchaeus climb that sycamore tree? What made Zacchaeus long to see him, the Jesus who could heal the sick, the Jesus who could make the blind see, the Jesus who could make the deaf hear. For whatever reason, Zacchaeus climbed that sycamore tree to get a better look at the Man everyone was talking about. That one climb, that one adjustment of view,  caused him to see things through different lenses. He came down with a new attitude and a new friend. A friend who would love him forever.

Jesus is asking you, “Who do you say I am?’ Not who your pastor says, not who your husband says, but “Who do you say I am?” I will tell you who I am not. I am not your ex-husband who had an affair. I am not the father who abandoned you. I am not your child who turned their back on you. No, I am none of these.  I AM YOUR FATHER! I will never leave you or forsake you. I will walk with you always. All you have to do is ask. Now, if you cannot answer my question, I suggest you start studying about ME. Your SAVIOR. Your REDEEMER.

Preacher Said . . . . .

Preacher said I must forgive and move on, so I think it’s time to go home. Look running down the road coming toward me, it’s my FATHER! Robe in one hand, ring in the other. Holding my head up, pulling my shoulders back, and putting a smile on my face, the prodigal daughter is going home! I’ve been gone far to long.

Pharisees! Love Them or Hate Them? This is the question!

We have been in the book of Luke in Sunday school and I am enjoying walking with Jesus through the pages of the Bible. I have to smile at the Pharisees. It amuses me that they are telling Jesus how to observe the law. Yes, they felt the need to explain all the regulations they have tacked on to the Ten Commandments. Can you imagine standing before the Son of the Most High, and telling him what to do and what not to do? Yes I can, because I do it all the time. I do it with my words, I do it with my actions, and I do it with my thoughts. For some strange reason I feel the need to be in control, thinking I am wiser than the Lord. So, back to my question. Pharisees! Love them or hate them? The answer is LOVE them! I would want someone to love me instead of hating me for being a Pharisee! Lord, please help me to be more like you, showing compassion and mercy to your children.
