It’s remarkably easy for us to work through the spiritual inventory of our lives, checking off all the disciplines we may be actively participating in and naturally considering ourselves to be “holy.” We examine our list and see things such as attending church, tithing, reading Scripture, serving others, and more. But what we see in Malachi is a challenge to live differently than that. It’s not a challenge to live life on the mountaintop, but on the path, walking with Jesus, knowing that the goal isn’t about reaching a certain level but about an honest and loving relationship with Him.
