Promised Land

Many people think that crossing the Jordan River is a metaphor for death and that entering the Promised Land stands for heaven.  However, if the Promised Land were heaven, we wouldn’t encounter enemies.  Instead, the book of Joshua depicts a faithful life in the world, claiming our inheritance in Christ.  What Paul’s letter to the Ephesians teaches doctrinally, the book of Joshua depicts practically.
